First Half: Rooney fires a free kick over the bar. Rooney rounds the keeper but fires a shot wide across goal. Cahill blazes a volley over the bar. Sturridge fires a low shot wide across goal. Poulson has a low effort blocked. Sterling hits the near post with a close range effort following an Ashley Cole cross. Sturridge has a low effort from close range block saved by the keeper.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Welbeck has a strike parried away. Welbeck has a low effort really well saved. Sturridge has a curling shot across goal parried over the bar. Goal! 1-0, Sturridge heads in at the far side from a Lallana cross. Olsson curls a free kick just wide of the far post.
Full Time: 1-0.
My Opinion:
My man of the match was Schmeichel. Although the result shows that it was a narrow win, in reality England were in full control and looked at ease over Denmark. It was a pretty decent display from England who would have scored lots more goals had it not been for the heroics of Danish keeper Schmeichel. Hodgson gave a few starts to some newer England faces and they took full advantage of their opportunity to impress. Lallana and Shaw in particular looked very comfortable on the international stage and in an England shirt which bodes really well for the future of the team. A goal looked like coming for England throughout the game but it didn't actually come until the 82nd minute when Sturridge headed in a delightful cross from Lallana. Some good signs on the whole for England but it was only against Denmark. The Danes didn't pose much of an attacking threat and were largely camped in their own half. They did manage to create a few chances for themselves as Poulson and Olsson came closest to scoring for the visitors but Schmeichel was their best player by far.
