Super Sunday Game Week 38

Manchester City 2 v 0 West Ham United Nasri (39), Kompany (49)
First Half: Noble survives a handball penalty appeal. Silva volleys over at the far post. Zabaleta has a penalty appeal turned down. Kolarov has a long range blast tipped over. Goal! 1-0, City take the lead as Nasri scores with a low shot from long range that goes in via the inside of the far post. Silva has a low shot across goal deflected onto the bar.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Goal! 2-0, Kompany slots in from close range following a corner. Aguero heads wide of the near post. Aguero spurns a great chance from close range. Nasri has a low volley saved.
Full Time: 2-0.
Man City 1st, 83>86pts
West Ham 12th>13th, 40pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Nasri. Man City win Premier League title. Manchester City only needed a point to win the league but they sealed their second title in three years with a comfortable victory over West Ham. City were at ease and never looked like losing. Nasri gave them the lead six minutes before half time with a brilliant long range strike which put the crowd at ease whilst the players were able to relax. They have been on a fantastic run over the last ten games this season and came out on top.
West Ham didn't pose much of a threat going forward and never looked like defeating City. They spent most of the game defending as City were just too good for them. At 1-0 down they had a massive task on their hands to beat City but the concession of another goal soon after half time killed the game off. West Ham finish their season by falling one place into 13th.

Liverpool 2 v 1 Newcastle United Skrtel OG (20), Agger (63), Sturridge (65)
First Half: Suarez has a goal ruled out for taking the free kick too quickly. Goal! 0-1, Newcastle take the lead as Gouffran's cross is turned in by Skrtel across goal. Gouffran has an effort saved before Anita blazes a volley over from the edge of the box. Sturridge heads wide of the far post.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Goal! 1-1, Liverpool equalise through Agger who volleys in from an acute angle at the far post from Gerrard's free kick. Goal! 2-1, Liverpool come from behind to take the lead as Sturridge taps in from close range at the far post from a Gerrard free kick. OFF! Ameobi is shown two yellows cards for dissent. OFF! Dummett is shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Suarez.
Full Time: 2-1.
Liverpool 2nd, 81>84pts
Newcastle 9th>10th, 49pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Sterling. Subdued end to Liverpool's season. Liverpool got off to a sluggish start which may have happened as they knew their fate was not in their hands. They actually went behind after Skrtel turned into his own net but a better second half performance saw them turn things around. Two similar goals saw Agger and Sturridge put them in front but it was a rather sullen way to end their season.
Newcastle put in a decent performance in the first half which saw them go into half time ahead. However, they failed to cope with a couple of Gerrard free kicks which saw them trail in the 65th minute. Some very poor discipline after going behind saw both Ameobi and Dummett sent off in what was a poor end to the game and season for the toon army.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 v 0 Aston Villa Paulinho (14), Baker OG (35), Adebayor (38pen)
First Half: Goal! 1-0, Spurs take the lead through Paulinho who has his first attempt parried before tapping in the rebound. Goal! 2-0, Rose's cross is headed in by Baker at the near post. Penalty! Sandro's shot hits Agbonlahor's hand. Goal! 3-0, Adebayor scores from the spot with a high strike into the near side.
Half Time: 3-0.
Second Half: Delph fires a low shot from the edge of the box just wide of the near post.
Full Time: 3-0.
Spurs 6th, 66>69pts
Villa 15th, 38pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Paulinho. Spurs seal Europa League place. It was a pretty comfortable afternoon for Spurs who strolled past Villa with three goals. By the end of the first half it was all over and a place in the Europa league was sealed. Paulinho put in a very good performance and was the best player on the field. Sherwood has done a decent job with Spurs but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be the manager next season.
Villa arguably cost themselves the game after an own goal and avoidable penalty put them 3-0 down before half time. Thus, had some sloppy defending been cut out, Villa may have had a chance of taking a point. However, they were soundly beaten and finished the season with a disappointing result. Delph had their best chance of the match but fired a low shot just wide of the near post.

Norwich City 0 v 2 Arsenal Ramsay (53), Jenkinson (62)
First Half: Redmond has long range driven shot parried past the near post. Podolski has a close range effort beaten away at the near post. Giroud has an effort well tipped over the bar. Giroud has a shot from the edge of the box parried at the far side.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Goal! 0-1, Arsenal take the lead through Ramsay who scores with a majestic volley into the far top corner. Goal! 0-2, Jenkinson scores with a low shot into the near bottom corner. Loza has a driven shot parried away from the far side.
Full Time: 0-2.
Norwich 18th, 33pts
Arsenal 4th, 76>79pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Ramsay. Arsenal too strong for Norwich. Norwich needed a 15 goal difference swing to stay up and it didn't happen which means the Canaries are relegated. They really struggled with their final five games against the top teams and it cost them dearly. Despite giving it a go, they were outplayed for the majority of the match and didn't really look like scoring. Redond and Loza came closest to finding the back of the net but it wasn't to be.
Arsenal finished 4th once again and secured champions league football for the 16th season in a row. Their fans will be pleased to be playing in Europe's elite competition but it was a disappointing second half to their season that saw them fade away from the title race. Today's result reminded us why Arsenal were so strong earlier in the season and that was through Ramsay. What a great player he is and he scored quite a spectacular volley to open the scoring. Jenkinson doubled their lead with his first ever goal for the Gunners in what was a decent display from Arsenal.

Cardiff City 1 v 2 Chelsea Bellamy (15), Schurrle (72), Torres (75)
First Half: Torres has an effort blocked behind an open goal. Goal! 1-0, Cardiff take the lead through Bellamy who scores with a long range deflected strike across goal into the far side. Oscar places a low effort wide of the far post. Campbell blazes a shot wide of the near post.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Goal! 1-1, Chelsea equalise as Azpilicueta has a header parried against the bar before hitting the rebound against the bar from close range which leads to Schurrle volleying into the ground and over the keeper. Goal! 1-2, Chelsea come from behind and take the lead through Torres who chests the ball down and scores with a low shot from close range into the far bottom corner. Schurrle has a shot from the edge of the box across goal parried over.
Full Time: 1-2.
Cardiff 20th, 30pts
Chelsea 3rd, 79>82pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Schurrle. Chelsea comeback against Cardiff. Despite already being relegated, Cardiff gave Chelsea a really good run for their money. Bellamy put them ahead in the 15th minute thanks to a deflected shot from long range and they managed to keep Chelsea out for 70 minutes. However, the story of the their season was summed up after they conceded twice in the space of three minutes to fall behind. Not the way they would have wanted to bow out from the league and it may be a while before we see them playing the premier league again.
Chelsea got off to a slow start which probably comes as no surprise but they dug in well to grind out a good comeback. Schurrle was very impressive and got them back on level terms in the 72nd minute before Torres scored a rare goal to put them in front. Chelsea may not have finished in the top two this season but they can go into next season with strong aspirations.

Southampton 1 v 1 Manchester United Lambert (28), Mata (54)
First Half: Vidic survives a handball penalty appeal. Lallana has a flicked effort saved, Wanyama has a low shot from long range saved. Goal! 1-0, Southampton take the lead through Lambert who gets played in on goal and coolly fires into the near side.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Goal! 1-1, United equalise through Mata who scores with a brilliant free kick over the wall and into the near top corner. Fletcher heads wide of the far post. Welbeck prods an effort wide of the near post.
Full Time: 1-1.
Saints 8th, 55>56pts
Man United 7th, 63>64pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Lallana. United held by Saints. Southampton played pretty well but the game had that end of season feel about it as both teams didn't really have much to play for. Saints went ahead in fairly controversial circumstances as Lambert seemed to elbow Vidic, whose face was covered in blood, before going through on goal and slotting neatly past De Gea. However, they were pegged back by a brilliant free kick from Mata and that ended up being that. Shaw and Lallana were the two players who stood out as both enjoyed a strong performance.
United were nowhere near their best but went behind to a goal that I don't think should have stood. Vidic received a head injury in the build up to Lambert's goal and therefore play should have been stopped. Instead, all the United players stopped playing which allowed Lambert an easy chance to open the scoring. However, they were back on level terms early in the second half thanks to a wonderful free kick from Mata who found the top corner. Fletcher and Welbeck had chances to win it but a draw was a fair result.

Hull City 0 v 2 Everton McCarthy (9), Lukaku (46)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Everton take the lead through McCarthy whose strike is pushed into the far side. Lukaku has a low effort saved at the near post.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Goal! 0-2, Lukaku is played through on goal and slots an effort over the keeper into the far side. Davies heads wide of the near post. Meyler has a long range driven shot parried across goal.
Full Time: 0-2.
Hull 16th, 37pts
Everton 5th, 69>72pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Lukaku. Everton at the double to beat Hull. It was not the best display from Hull who most likely have the FA cup final next week in their minds. They went behind early on and never recovered, instead going two down early in the second half. More chances were created by Hull in the second half but both Davies and Meyler failed to find the back of the net. I'm sure we will see more effort from them next week against Arsenal.
Everton have been very impressive this year and ended with a decent victory which saw McCarthy get his first goal for Everton. Lukaku doubled their lead straight away in the second half as the result never looked in doubt. Martinez has done a brilliant job with the team this year and although they just missed out on a champions league spot, they will be playing European football next season in the Europa League.

Sunderland 1 v 3 Swansea City Dyer (7), Emnes (14), Borini (50), Bony (54)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Swansea take the lead through Dyer who curls a shot into the far top corner from close range. Goal! 0-2, Emnes turns on the ball and fires a fierce strike into the near side. Amat's flicked header bounces back off his own far post. Bardsley has a long range driven shot tipped over.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Goal! 1-2, Borini heads in from a corner at the near post to half the deficit. Johnson has a low strike across goal beaten away. Goal! 1-3, Bony scores with a low shot that goes in via the inside of the far post. Johnson fires a low driven shot from close range just wide of the near post.
Full Time: 1-3.
Sunderland 14th, 38pts
Swansea 13th>12th, 39>42pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Dyer. Swansea fire three past Sunderland. Going two goals down inside the first fifteen minutes proved pivotal for Sunderland who gave it a real go but were unable to get themselves back on level terms. Borini gave them a little ray of hope early in the second half but they conceded only four minutes later which pretty much settled the outcome.
Swansea started the game brilliantly and found themselves two goals up as Dyer and Emnes scored inside the first quarter of an hour. They didn't start the second half as strongly but restored their two goal advantage in the 54th minute through Bony. Dyer was particularly impressive for the Swans in what was good final performance of the season. That result means that Swansea move up one place to finish 12th.

Fulham 2 v 2 Crystal Palace Gayle (28,84), Woodrow (61), David (90+4)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Palace take the lead through Gayle who latches onto Ward's long range shot to turn it past the keeper at the near side from close range.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Rodallega heads against the far post. Goal! 1-1, Fulham equalise through Woodrow who cuts back inside and curls a shot into the far top corner. David has a penalty appeal turned down. Goal! 1-2, Palace retake the lead through Gayle who scores with a curling free kick around the wall and into the near side. Murray hits the bar with an effort at the near side. Goal! 2-2, Fulham equalise again through David who scores with a long range shot across goal that goes in via the underside of the bar and into the far top corner.
Full Time: 2-2.
Fulham 19th, 31>32pts
Palace 11th, 44>45pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Gayle. Fulham claim dramatic draw at Craven Cottage. Fulham played a pretty youthful team in their last game of the season and they looked pretty good. Promising signs ahead for the team who will have to fight it out in the championship next season with players such as Woodrow impressing today. It looked like they were going to lose when Gayle scored his second but a late equaliser sealed a point. Both Woodrow and David scored great goals but they needed more of that earlier in the season.
Palace played well and probably should have taken all three points. They created lot of chances but it was Gayle who scored twice to put Palace in the lead on two occasions. After going 2-1 up, Palace really should have held on but they conceded a goal that would have beaten most keepers in the 94th minute.

West Bromich Albion 1 v 2 Stoke City McCauley OG (22), Sessegnon (56), Adam (87)
First Half: Sessegnon hits the underside of the bar from close range whilst the ball bounces away off the line. Walters has a shot across goal from an acute angle parried away. Walters heads wide from close range of the near post. Odemwingie has a low shot across goal parried away. Goal! 0-1, Stoke take the lead after a low Arnautovic cross is deflected in off McCauley at the near post.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Goal! 1-1, West Brom equalise through Sessegnon who scores with a low shot into the far bottom corner. Arnautovic curls a low shot from the edge of the box just wide of the far post. Mulumbu hits the far post with a strike across goal. Goal! 1-2, Stoke go back in front as Adam scores with a low strike from long range into the far bottom corner.
Full Time: 1-2.
West Brom 17th, 36pts
Stoke 10th>9th, 47>50pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Arnautovic. Late Adam strike stuns Baggies. West Brom were much better in the first half but found themselves a goal down going into half time. They were back on level terms when Sessegnon struck just before the hour mark but they came undone from a late strike from Adam. I felt West Brom could have taken more from that game but they were just poor in front of goal. They created some good chances but scuppered most of them.
Stoke proved themselves to be the better team and were much stronger in the second half. Victory was deserved in the end but it came down to a great goal from Adam to decide it. Those three points move Stoke up one place into 9th in what was a decent season for Hughes and Stoke.

Best Goal: Nasri, Ramsay, Mata, Emnes, Gayle, Woodrow, David, Adam. Winner: Ramsay Watch the goal here

Super Sunday Game Week 37

Chelsea 0 v 0 Norwich City
First Half: Olsson has a penalty appeal turned down. Schurrle hits the far post with a low shot across goal. Schurrle has a shot from the edge of the box saved at the near side.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Luiz hits the bar with a shot from the edge of the box across goal. Schurrle has a penalty appeal turned down. Hazard has a penalty appeal turned down. Snodgrass has an effort blocked wide at the near side. Hazard has a shot parried at the near side before Torres scuffs an effort over. Johnson has a header saved.
Full Time: 0-0.
Chelsea 3rd, 78>79pts
Norwich 18th, 32>33pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Turner. Goalless draw helps nobody. Chelsea needed to win to keep their title hopes alive but they failed to score at home against Norwich. There was a lack of creativity in front of goal which has been a particular problem for Chelsea, especially in the first halfs of most of their games this season. However, they can count themselves unlucky as both Schurrle and Luiz struck the woodwork. Hazard and Schurrle will both feel that they should have had penalties and on another day they might have. Defensively Chelsea were strong but they let themselves down offensively.
Normally Norwich would have been delighted to have taken a point from Stamford Bridge but with results going against them, they really needed to win. It was a very strong defensive effort which impressively kept Chelsea out but they didn't start to press forward until the final ten minutes. I suppose it was the right tactic to try and nick a late winner and it nearly came off as Snodgrass and Johnson both came close. However, with Sunderland winning yesterday, I fear Norwich will now go down alongside Cardiff and Fulham.

Arsenal 1 v 0 West Bromich Albion Giroud (14)
First Half: Podolski fires an effort wide of the near post. Berahino has an effort blocked at the near side. Cazorla has a shot from the edge of the box deflected over. Goal! 1-0, Arsenal take the lead as Giroud heads in from a corner at the near side. Cazorla has a low shot well pushed past the near post.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Amalfitano has an effort stopped. Dawson heads over the bar. Ozil strikes an effort wide of the far post. Podolski hits the near post with a sliced effort. Lugano heads wide of the far post.
Full Time: 1-0.
Arsenal 4th, 73>76pts
West Brom 16th, 36pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Giroud. Arsenal were the dominant team as everyone expected and controlled the match. Despite deserving to win, they only scored once which probably came as the biggest surprise. Giroud was on form and put the Gunners ahead inside the first fifteen minutes but Cazorla, Ozil and Podolski all failed to double the lead. Fourth spot is sealed as Wenger once again delivers champions league football.
West Brom were outplayed but could easily have taken a point as they remained within one goal. A shock equaliser never came as Amalfitano, Berahino and Lugano all scuppered chances. Despite defeat today, I believe West Brom are safe from relegation unless Norwich pull off a miracle.

Super Sunday 36

Liverpool 0 v 2 Chelsea Ba (45+3), Willian (90+4)
First Half: Cole has a long range driven shot across goal parried away. Coutinho sends a volley into the side-netting. Sakho volleys over the bar. Flanagan survives a handball penalty appeal. Goal! 0-1, Gerrard slips on the ball which allows Ba a clear path through to goal before slotting a low shot from the edge of the box under the keeper.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Gerrard has a deflected shot from long range saved. Allen has a low volley from the edge of the box saved at the far side. Schurrle has a low drive shot from the edge of the box across goal parried away. Gerrard has a long range strike saved at the far side. Suarez has an effort tipped over the bar. Goal! 0-2, Chelsea break away with Torres and Willian from the halfway line before Torres squares the ball across to Willian who simply taps in.
Full Time: 0-2.
Liverpool 1st, 80pts
Chelsea 2nd, 75>78pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Matic. Chelsea dent Liverpool's title hopes. Liverpool were largely dominant throughout but they just couldn't score. Chances came and went whilst Suarez was particularly quiet in front of goal. That defeat will come as a huge blow to their title aspirations as it brings both Man City and Chelsea right back into the mix. Liverpool will need to win their remaining games and hope City slip up but their inferior goal difference to City could prove pivotal at the end of the season.
Chelsea were very negative but took their chances superbly well to claim what might seem a surprising victory to some.  Mourinho opted to rest his star players for the champions league semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid but the team that was put out was still a strong side. They were defensively immense and kept an impressive clean sheet against a very strong attack. Ba pounced on Gerrard's unfortunate slip to open the scoring whilst a very late counter attack was enough to seal the win. Another tactical masterclass from Mourinho who has put his team back in the hunt for the title.

Crystal Palace 0 v 2 Manchester City Dzeko (4), Y. Toure (43)
First Half: Goal! 0-,1 City take an early lead through Dzeko who heads in from Yaya Toure's cross at the near side. Kompany heads wide of the near post. Goal! 0-2, City double their lead just before half time as Yaya Toure cuts inside and curls a shot into the top far corner.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Puncheon has a low shot from long range across goal pushed past the far post. Yaya Toure curls a shot from the edge of the box over the far top corner. Dzeko has a deflected shot saved. Ince has a penalty claim turned down. Fernandinho hits the back of the bar with a misdirected cross.
Full Time: 0-2.
Palace 11th, 43pts
Man City 3rd, 74>77pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Yaya Toure. Impressive City too much for Palace. Crystal Palace were outplayed by a strong City team and there is no shame in that. They went behind early on which set the tone of the match before Yaya Toure scored a brilliant goal to put the game to bed. Puncheon had their best chance in front of goal but Hart managed to cope easily enough with it. A tough game for Palace to endure but they won't play teams as good as that every week.
City were magnificent and took full advantage of Liverpool's defeat earlier in the day to Chelsea. They are back in pole position to win the title now and can go top of the league by winning their game in hand on goal difference. Yaya Toure was instrumental in midfield and was clearly the major difference between the two teams. His goal was pure class that would have been a worthy winning goal of any game. I fancy City to go on and win the title now as they have a much easier run in compared to Liverpool and I just can't see them slipping up with an in form Yaya Toure.

Sunderland 4 v 0 Cardiff City Wickham (26,86), Borini (45+1pen), Giaccherini (76)
First Half: Campbell has a penalty claim turned down. Goal! 1-0, Sunderland take the lead through Wickham who heads into the far top corner from a corner. Penalty! Wickham is fouled inside the box by Cala. OFF! Cala is shown a straight red card. Goal! 2-0, Borini scores from the spot with a low strike into the far bottom corner.
Half Time: 2-0.
Second Half: Whittingham has a deflected free kick parried away. Borini has an effort from close range saved at the near post. Goal! 3-0, Giaccherini scores with a low shot at the near side. Goal! 4-0, Wickham heads into near side from a corner kick.
Full Time: 4-0.
Sunderland 20>17th, 29>32pts
Cardiff 18>20th, 30pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Wickham. Sunderland thrash Cardiff. That was a huge victory in more ways than one for Sunderland who have incredibly moved out of the relegation zone. They were clearly the better team today and deserved to win the match. The sending off only pushed the momentum further in their favour and they took full advantage. Wickham has been a revelation of late and bagged another brace whilst Borini and Giaccherini both got themselves on the scoresheet. Poyet has done a brilliant job so far to get them into safety from the position they were in and another positive result should guarantee them premier league football for next year.
On the other hand, Cardiff have had an absolute nightmare here. That result means that they fall to the bottom of the table and two points from safety. It seemed like a harsh penalty that was given against them as it could be argued the foul was just outside the box. However, it was given and Cala was consequently sent off which made it a near impossible job to salvage a point out of. In the end it proved too much of a challenge for Cardiff and they were soundly beaten. With two games left to go, Cardiff have to get at least four points which seems unlikely. I fear the end is near for Cardiff.

Super Sunday 35

Norwich City 2 v 3 Liverpool Sterling (4,62), Suarez (11), Hooper (54), Snodgrass (77)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Liverpool take the lead through Sterling who scores an absolute screamer from long range into the near side. Coutinho has a low volley across goal parried away. Goal! 0-2, Liverpool double their lead as Sterling finds Suarez with a low cross who tucks in a low shot into the far bottom corner. Hooper and Fer both have their efforts blocked. Redmond has a long range strike parried away.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Sterling fires a shot from the edge of the box over at the near side. Goal! 1-2, Norwich half the deficit as Johnson beats the keeper to a cross, leaving Hooper to tap in into an open goal. Suarez cuts inside and fires a low shot just wide of the far post. Goal! 1-3, Liverpool double their lead once again as Sterling goes past a defender before firing a low shot which deflects and loops over the keeper. Snodgrass has a long range strike punched past the near post. Redmond has a long range strike deflected just wide of the far post. Martin heads over the bar. Goal! 2-3, Norwich move back to within one goal as Snodgrass heads in from a cross into the far side. Van Wolfswinkel has a header really well saved. Lucas has an effort parried before blazing the rebound over.
Full Time: 2-3.
Norwich 17th, 32pts
Liverpool 1st, 77>80pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Sterling. Liverpool hold on at Carrow Road. Norwich got off to a slow start and found themselves two goals down inside the first 12 minutes. However, they battled back and eventually got back to 2-3. They were so close to an equaliser but Van Wolfswinkel saw his header superbly saved late on. Another defeat that leaves them looming just above the relegation zone and it really does not look good for them. I reckon they will go down bar a miracle.
Liverpool dug in and compounded their victory over Man City last weekend with a win against Norwich. Sterling scored an absolute screamer to give Liverpool an early lead before Suarez soon doubled the score. Sturridge managed to double the lead once again after Hooper got one back but it all got a little nervy when Snodgrass made it 3-2. However, they held on and got the job done as they continue to look favourites for the title.

Hull City 0 v 3 Arsenal Ramsay (31), Podolski (45,54)
First Half: Ozil has a penalty appeal turned down. Jelavic has a low shot across goal pushed past the far post. Podolski has a strike parried away at the near post. Long blazes an effort wide of the near side. Goal! 0-1, Arsenal take the lead as Cazorla plays Ramsay in who scores with a low shot into the far bottom corner. Livermore strikes a low shot from long range against the near post. Goal! 0-2, Arsenal double their lead as Podolski scores with a low volley into the far bottom corner.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Goal! 0-3, Ramsay has a low shot parried to Podolski who tucks in the rebound from close range. Giroud rushes the keeper and intercepts the clearance before hitting the bar from an acute angle from close range. Mertesacker heads over at the near side. Ramsay has a low shot across goal saved. Huddlestone has a shot from the edge of the box palmed over the bar.
Full Time: 0-3.
Hull 13>14th, 36pts
Arsenal 4th, 67>70pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Ramsay. Podolski double at KC stadium. Hull were not at their best and were outplayed by a better team. It was not the result they would have liked in preparation for their FA Cup final meeting at the end of the season and they will want to vastly improve when they meet again. Livermore and Huddlestone both had shots parried away but they were just not at their best. With that defeat, Hull drop one place into 14th.
That was a really strong performance from Arsenal who proved to be too strong for Hull today. Both Ramsay and Ozil made their comebacks which is a massive boost for Arsenal and they made the difference for the Gunners on route to another three points. Podolski struck either side of half time which took the game away from Hull but it was a deserved victory which should give them a mental boost going into the FA Cup final. It also keeps them ahead of Everton in the race for fourth place.

Everton 2 v 0 Manchester United Baines (28pen), Mirallas (43)
First Half: Barkley blazes a shot over the bar. Evans survives a handball penalty shout. Naismith blazes a volley over the bar. Penalty! Jones pretty much saves a Lukaku shot. Goal! 1-0, Everton take the lead as Baines strikes the penalty low and straight down the middle. Goal! 2-0, Everton double their lead through Mirallas who scores with a low shot from an acute angle across goal into the far bottom corner.
Half Time: 2-0.
Second Half: Kagawa has a low shot from close range saved. Coleman slices an effort wide of the near post. Naismith puts an effort wide of the near post. Naismith has a low shot across goal from the edge of the box parried past the far post. Rooney has an effort parried away. Smalling heads wide of the near post.
Full Time: 2-0.
Everton 5th, 66>69pts
Man United 7th, 57pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Coleman. Moyes suffers defeat on return to Goodison Park. Everton were too good for United and came out deserved winners. They had more pace, determination and desire which saw them ease to victory over United and Moyes. Baines opened the scoring from the spot whilst Mirallas scored from an acute angle to beat De Gea before half time. That was a big win which keeps them right behind Arsenal in the race for fourth and they will need to keep this momentum going if they are to take that last champions league spot.
United actually had a lot of possession but they failed to do anything meaningful in front of the Everton goal. There was no cutting edge, pace of creativity in what was a poor display. No idea what Jones was doing saving a shot which De Gea could easily have stopped which gifted Everton the lead from the spot. Plus, I felt De Gea should have kept out Mirallas' strike across goal from an acute goal. Thus, two goals which should have been avoided but it still didn't take away the fact that Everton were the better team. My faith in Moyes diminishes with each performance and that was just embarrassing to watch. A terrible season for United continues.

Best Goal: Sterling, Suarez, Ramsay, Podolski, Mirallas. Winner: Sterling - Watch the goal here

Super Sunday Game Week 34

Liverpool 3 v 2 Manchester City Sterling (6), Skrtel (26), Silva (57), Johnson OG (62), Coutinho (78)
First Half: Goal! 1-0, Liverpool take the lead through Sterling who feints to go inside but turns both Hart and Kompany the wrong way before slotting a low shot into the near side. Yaya Toure fires a long range shot wide of the far post. Sturridge places an effort just wide of the far post. Gerrard has a header parried really well over the bar. Goal! 2-0, Skrtel heads in at the near post into the far top corner from a corner. Dzeko has a penalty appeal turned down. Silva has a header that deflects wide across goal. Kompany has a header headed against the bar from a corner. Fernandinho has an effort really well parried behind at the near post.
Half Time: 2-0.
Second Half: Suarez is lucky to avoid a second yellow card for diving. Goal! 2-1, City get back in the game through Silva who latches onto Milner's cross and scores with a low shot into the far bottom corner. Goal! 2-2, City equalise as a low Silva cross is deflected in off Johnson that beats Mignolet at the near post. Suarez has a penalty appeal turned down. Silva puts a sliding effort wide of the far post. Goal! 3-2, Liverpool reclaim the lead through Coutinho who controls Kompany's sliced clearance before scoring with a low shot from the edge of the box into the far bottom corner. OFF! Henderson is shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle. Skrtel punches the ball inside the box but it goes unseen.
Full Time: 3-2.
Liverpool 1st, 74>77pts
Man City 3rd, 70pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Sterling. Liverpool beat City at Anfield. This was by far the biggest game of the season so far as the two title contenders went head to head. After an incredible and entertaining match, Liverpool are now the favourites to win the premier league and have their destiny in their own hands now. They started the game in their fast paced style and took an early lead through Sterling before doubling their lead before the half hour mark as Skrtel headed home. It was all looking rather rosy for the home side at half time but they pegged back to 2-2 in the space of five minutes during the second half which saw the momentum shift in City's favour. However, a brilliant goal from Coutinho ensured the three points went to Liverpool in what could turn out to be the moment that Liverpool won the league. I have to say that Liverpool look on course to actually win the league now and they deserve it.
City had a terrible first half which saw them concede twice and Yaya Toure forced off through injury. However, Milner came on for Navas in the second half in what proved to be a brilliant substitution as City managed to bring the game back to 2-2. Silva had a big part to play in both City goals but the second came via rather fortunate circumstances as Mignolet really should have done better to keep out Johnson's deflection. The momentum had shifted in the favour and they looked odds on to get the winner. Incredibly, Kompany sliced a clearance straight into the path of Coutinho and the rest is history. What a pivotal moment and goal that could turn out to be. All City can do now is win their remaining games and hope Liverpool slip up during the run in. Pellegrini will be gutted after that result but they have to keep fighting and believing.

Swansea City 0 v 1 Chelsea Ba (68)
First Half: Salah places a low shot just wide of the near post from a low Ivanovic cross. Bony has a header tipped over the far top corner. OFF! Chico is shown a second yellow card and sent off for a foul on Schurrle. Dyer has a long range strike that deflects before the keeper parried it behind at the near side.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Oscar has an effort cleared away. Ba puts a glancing header from close range wide across goal. Eto'o drags a low shot wide of the near post. Routledge has a low shot from the edge of the box deflected wide of the far post. Goal! 0-1, Chelsea take the lead through Ba who scores with a low shot from the edge of the box that beats the keeper at the near side. Ba fires a shot over the bar from the edge of the box. Eto'o strikes a low shot wide of the far post. Shelvey has a cross pushed over the bar at the far post. Eto'o has a low shot blocked.
Full Time: 0-1.
Swansea 15th, 33pts
Chelsea 2nd, 72>75pts

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Matic. Chelsea claim narrow victory at Liberty stadium. Swansea were dealt an early blow as Chico Flores was shown a second yellow card and sent off early on in the first half. That really scuppered their chances of winning and they were forced to defend for rest of the game and play on the counter attack. They created a few decent chances but Dyer, Bony and Routledge all failed to find the back of the net. They were close to keeping the game at 0-0 but conceded a goal that probably should have been saved. Disappointing how the game turned out for Swansea who still need a few more points to guarantee their safety.
Chelsea were not amazing by any stretch of the imagination and struggled to kill the game off. They were fortunate to score the goal they did and win the match as Ba's strike really should have been kept out. Nevertheless, they got the job done and picked up three more points to remain two behind Liverpool. They spurred plenty of chances today and should really have won by two or three but I'm sure Mourinho will be pleased with the result. Chelsea still have a decent shot at the title and still have to play Liverpool at Anfield which could really change things up once again.

Best Goal: Coutinho - Watch the goal here

Super Sunday Game Week 22

Chelsea 3 v 1 Manchester United Eto'o (17,45,49), Hernandez (78)
First Half: Young has an effort across goal saved. Goal! 1-0, Chelsea take the lead as Eto'o scores with a shot from the edge of the box that deflects into the far top corner. Welbeck has a tame low close range shot saved. Oscar volleys over from close range. Goal! 2-0, Eto'o scores with a low shot into the centre of the goal from a low Cahill cross.
Half Time: 2-0.
Second Half: Goal! 3-0, Eto'o completes his hat trick after scoring from close range into the centre of the goal following Cahill's parried header from a corner. Goal! 3-1, Hernandez scores a tap in from close range from a Jones low shot at the far post. Red Card! Vidic is shown a straight red card for a foul on Hazard. Rafael gets a yellow card for a terrible tackle.
Full Time: 3-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Eto'o. Chelsea got their tactics spot on and deserved to win after a very strong performance. Eto'o produced his first hat trick for Chelsea and took the game away from United. The goals just before and half time killed the game off as it took away United's belief. Disappointed by United once again but Chelsea have always been a bogey team so it is not much of a surprise they lost. They started the game well but couldn't create a meaningful chance to show for it. The first goal they conceded was unfortunate as it took a deflection but the goal right on half team proved costly. Hernandez scored a consolation but they were well beaten today.

Swansea City 1 v 3 Tottenham Hotspur Adebayor (35,71), Chico OG (53), Bony (78)
First Half: Shelvey has a long range shot parried. Bony fires a long range shot wide of the far post. Bony smashes a long range shot against the crossbar. Goal! 0-1, Spurs take the lead after Adebayor heads in at the far post from an Eriksen cross. Chadli fires an close range blast over the bar. Adebayor has a volley punched away. Eriksen has a tame low shot saved.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Goal! 0-2, Chico Flores taps into his own net from close range after trying to clear a low Walker cross. Bony has a driven shot from the edge of the box saved. Dembele is put through on goal but his low shot goes just wide of the far post. Goal! 0-3, Adebayor is played in on goal by Rose and slots a low shot under the keeper. Goal! 1-3, Bony scores with a controlled volley into the far side.
Full Time: 1-3.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Adebayor. Defensive errors from Swansea ultimately cost them the game today as they struggled to cope with the Spurs attack. At 1-0 down they were still capable of levelling but an unfortunate own goal by Chico put the result to bed. Bony scored an impressive consolation but they will need to improve. Spurs played really well and came out deserved winners. They are very much in form and it didn't stop today. Two goals from the rejuvenated Adebayor on top of an goal capped a solid display away from home.

Best Goal: Eto'o, Adebayor, Bony. Winner: Bony

Super Sunday Game Week 21

Stoke City 3 v 5 Liverpool Shawcross OG (5), Suarez (32,71), Crouch (39), Adam (45), Gerrard (51pen), Walters (85), Sturridge (87)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Liverpool take the lead after Cissokho's long range shot takes a big deflection off Shawcross that wrong-foots the keeper. Goal! 0-2, Suarez scores after making the most of some poor defending to slot a low shot under the keeper. Goal! 1-2, Crouch scores after heading in a cross into the near bottom corner. Coutinho has a volley well parried away from the centre of goal. Goal! 2-2, Adam levels for Stoke with a long range screamer into the far side.
Half Time: 2-2.
Second Half: Penalty! Sterling is fouled in the box by Wilson. Goal! 2-3, Gerrard scores from the spot into the bottom corner. Goal! 2-4, Suarez curls a low shot into the far bottom corner. Walters has a close range header well parried away. Goal! 3-4, Walters scores with a low shot under the keeper. Goal! 3-5, Sturridge scores by slotting home into the near side on the rebound from his first effort hitting the near post. Mignolet parries away a Gerrard misdirected header.
Full Time: 3-5.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Suarez. 8 goal thriller at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke battled really well throughout and will be disappointed not to have to come away from the game with anything. They impressed me by getting back to level terms before half time at 2-2 and even when they clawed their way back to 3-4 but it just wasn't to be. Liverpool kept going really well and got their rewards in the end. The game could have gone either way in the second half but they managed to put themselves in front when they needed to.

Newcastle United 0 v 2 Manchester City Dzeko (8), Negredo (90)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Dzeko puts City in front after firing in from close range into the near top corner from Kolarov's cross. Kolarov drags a low shot wide across goal from long range. Cabaye has a volley parried over the bar. Tiote has a wonder goal ruled out for offside. Silva sends a low long range volley wide of the far post.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Negredo has a close range header parried away. Cabaye has a long range strike parried behind. Cabaye has a free kick parried away. Tiote fires just wide from long range. Remy has an effort blocked by Hart. Fernandinho hits the bar with a header. Negredo has a low effort cleared off the line. Goal! 0-2, Negredo scores after being played through on goal but has his first effort parried before the ball bounces off him and taps in from close range.
Full Time: 0-2.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Negredo. City tough it out at Newcastle. I had to feel for Newcastle as they were wrongly denied an equaliser to make it 1-1. Tiote scored an absolute worldy of a goal but for some reason the linesman put his flag up for someone was not involved in play. Very harsh on the Toon who could have taken something from the game had that not gone against them. City took an early lead but had luck on their side today. The goal against them was ruled out for offside and they managed to keep a clean sheet. Negredo scored late in the game as City managed to grind out the three points.

Best Goal: Adam, Suarez, Dzeko. Winner: Adam

Super Sunday Game Week 19

Chelsea 2 v 1 Liverpool Skrtel (3), Hazard (17), Eto'o (34)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Skrtel puts Liverpool ahead after tapping in from close range Suarez's blocked header. Hazard has a low shot parried away. Hazard has a penalty claim turned down. Lampard has a long range shot parried over the bar. Goal! 1-1, Hazard levels with a curling shot from the edge of the box into the far top corner. Goal! 2-1, Eto'o puts Chelsea ahead with a close range prod into the far bottom corner. Allen has a shot parried away.
Half Time: 2-1.
Second Half: Sakho heads onto the bar following a free kick. Eto'o has a close range blast parried over the bar. Johnson has a long range low shot parried past the post. Suarez has a penalty shout turned down. Torres has a low shot saved.

Full Time: 2-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Hazard. Chelsea rally to grind out win over Liverpool. In the end, Chelsea proved to be too strong for Liverpool. They recovered from a slow start to turn things around in their favour before half time and held on for three points. Liverpool got off to the perfect start but things just did not go there way from then onwards. They could have levelled late on but Suarez had a fair shout for a penalty turned down.

Newcastle United 0 v 1 Arsenal Giroud (65)
First Half: Rosicky has a long range shot saved. Cazorla has a long range shot saved. Sissokho has a long range driven shot parried over the bar. Debuchy heads onto the bar.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Goal! 0-1, Giroud puts Arsenal ahead with a flicked header into the far side following a free kick from Walcott. Walcott has an effort headed onto the bar. Remy has a blocked attempt go just wide. Ben Arfa fires into the side netting. Ben Arfa blazes very wide of the goal from long range.

Full Time: 0-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Walcott. Giroud claims points for Arsenal. Newcastle were in the game but just couldn't create a meaningful chance in front of goal. Arsenal controlled most of the game and deservedly scored the winner as they battled hard throughout.

Everton 2 v 1 Southampton Coleman (9), Ramirez (71), Lukaku (74)
First Half: Barkley has an effort saved. Goal! 1-0, Coleman puts Everton in front after cutting inside and firing into the far top corner. Lallana drags an effort wide of the near post. Ward-Prowse strikes a volley very wide of goal.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Barkley misses a close range effort just wide of the far post. Rodriguez has a long range shot deflected just wide of the post. Goal! 1-1, Ramirez levels for Saints with a long range strike that flies through the keeper. Goal! 2-1, Lukaku puts Everton back in front after firing into the near top corner. Lukaku fires over the bar from the edge of the box. Lukaku has a low shot parried past the post.

Full Time: 2-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Barkley. Lukaku claims victory for Everton. It was a clinical performance from Everton who always looked as though they posed a threat going forward. A decent win which keeps them in the hunt for European places. Southampton were involved in the game and had their chances. They did well to level but conceded shortly after which undid all their good work to get back in the game.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 v 0 Stoke City Soldado (37pen), Dembele (65), Lennon (69)
First Half: Eriksen has a low effort from close range saved. Soldado drags a volley wide of the far post. Soldado has a glancing header go just wide of the far post. Penalty! Adebayor's shot is handled in the box. Goal! 1-0, Soldado sends the keeper the wrong way from the spot to put Spurs ahead.
Half Time: 1-0.
Second Half: Soldado has a close range effort saved. Eriksen has a low shot from the edge of the box saved at the near post. Goal! 2-0, Dembele scores with a low shot from the edge of the box across goal into the far bottom corner. Goal! 3-0, Lennon scores with a volley into the far side. Lamela has an effort block saved behind. Crouch has a close range header saved.

Full Time: 3-0.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Eriksen. Tottenham cruise to victory. It was a dominant display from Spurs who looked like they were back to their best today. The win never looked in doubt after they went ahead and it was thoroughly deserved. Stoke just couldn't get themselves in the game and were outplayed today.

Best Goal: Hazard, Coleman, Ramirez, Lukaku, Dembele, Lennon. Winner: Hazard.

Super Sunday Game Week 17

Southampton 2 v 3 Tottenham Hotspur Lallana (13), Adebayor (25, 64), Hooiveld (54, OG), Lambert (59)
First Half: Goal! 1-0, Lallana puts Saints in front with a low long range shot that finds the bottom near corner. Rodriguez curls a shot over the far top corner. Goal! 1-1, Adebayor levels for Spurs with a close range volley from a Soldado cross.
Half Time: 1-1.
Second Half: Goal! 1-2, Hooiveld scores an own goal from close range following a cross from Rose. Goal! 2-2, Lambert levels for Saints with a low shot from the edge of the box into an open goal as Lallana squares past Lloris. Adebayor has a close range shot block saved. Goal! 2-3, Adebayor puts Spurs back in front with a close range low shot into the far bottom corner. Soldado drags a low shot wide of the far post. Soldado puts a close range effort wide of the post. Lambert puts an effort over the bar.
Full Time: 2-3.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Adebayor. Adebayor double enough to see Spurs seal victory. Southampton played well but it was defensive errors that really cost them today as they conceded three goals at home. Sherwood has really got Spurs to play the way they used to under Redknapp with the attacking style portrayed today. Adebayor was inspired and rightly scored the winning goal.

Swansea City 1 v 2 Everton Coleman (66), Oviedo (70, OG), Barkley (84)
First Half: Mirallas has a shot saved at the near post. Bony flashes a shot over the bar from the edge of the box.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Barkley has a driven shot parried onto the bar from the edge of the box. Goal! 0-1, Coleman puts Everton ahead with a long range driven shot into the near side. Goal! 1-1, Tiendalli has an effort that rebounds off Oviedo and into the far corner. Vazquez has a chipped shot saved. Goal! 1-2, Barkley puts Everton back in front with a stunning free kick that goes in via the underside of the bar. Lamah has a long range volley parried over the bar.
Full Time: 1-2.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Barkley. Everton take three points after Barkley stunner. Swansea played well but were just beaten by two world class goals. Everton were strong throughout the match and deserved to win but what a way to win with two brilliant strikes.

Best Goal: Lallana, Adebayor, Barkley, Coleman. Winner: Barkley

Tottenham Hotspur 0 v 5 Liverpool Suarez (18, 84), Henderson (40), Flanagan (75), Sterling (89)
First Half: Saurez has a shot that deflects wide of the post. Goal! 0-1, Suarez puts Liverpool ahead after beating the Spurs defence and slotting a low shot into the far bottom corner. Suarez has a shot saved. Coutinho strikes the bar from the edge of the box before Johnson fires a driven shot over the bar. Chadli heads over the bar following a corner. Holtby fires a low shot wide of the far post. Goal! 0-2, Henderson scores with a controlled volley inside the near post following a parried shot from Suarez. Soldado has a goal ruled out for a foul given in the build up.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Soldado strikes a shot over the bar. Sakho hits the post with a header before Skrtel fires wide of the post. Red Card! Paulinho is shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle. Suarez puts an effort into the side netting. Goal! 0-3, Flanagan scores with a shot that finds the far top corner via the underside of the bar. Goal! 0-4, Suarez chips over an onrushing Lloris. Goal! 0-5, Sterling is put through on goal and slots a low shot into the near side.
Full Time: 0-5.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Suarez. Liverpool run riot over a desperate Tottenham. Spurs were woeful and deserved the thumping they received. It was a poor first half from the home side but it got worse very quickly after Paulinho was sent off for a horrible tackle on Suarez. Liverpool were fantastic and were great value for their five goals. Rogers has got the team playing really well and it was nothing less than they deserved.

Aston Villa 0 v 3 Manchester United Welbeck (15, 18), Cleverley (52)
First Half: Albrighton has a low shot saved. Albrighton has a low volley saved. Goal! 0-1, Welbeck puts United in front after tapping in from Januzaj's header coming back off the post. Goal! 0-2, Welbeck slides in and pokes home into the far top corner from Valencia's cross. Rooney fires and low shot from the edge of the box just wide of the far post. Welbeck misses with a low shot just wide of the far post.
Half Time: 0-2.
Second Half: Goal! 0-3, Cleverly scores after running onto a Rooney through ball and slotting low inside the near post. Albrighton has a volley punch saved away by De Gea. Welbeck sends a chip shot over the bar.
Full Time: 0-3.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Valencia. Man United back on track with Villa romp. Villa were defensively poor and found out by United's strong attack. Not what Villa were hoping for from the game but they need to forget this one quickly. United looked like a much better side today and showed a glimpse of the form that won them the title last year. Valencia was strong down the right wing whilst Rooney coordinated well from the middle. Pleasing to watch and hopefully it is a sign for better things to come for Moyes and United.

Norwich City 1 v 1 Swansea City Dyer (12), Hooper (45)
First Half: Hernandez fires a low strike wide of the near post. Goal! 0-1, Dyer puts Swansea ahead after lobbing the ball over the onrushing keeper. Hooper shoots just wide of the post. Half Time: 1-1.
Second Half: Pozuelo fires over the bar from long range. Turner hits the bar with a header. Hooper has a shot parried behind. Bony fires a shot wide of the post.
Full Time: 1-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Hooper. Spoils shared at Carrow Road. Norwich levelled the match and looked the more likely to win during the second half. Swansea started the game well but tailed off. Nevertheless, they deserved to take a point.

Best Goal: Suarez, Cleverley, Hooper. Winner: Hooper

Super Sunday Game Week 15

Arsenal 1 v 1 Everton Ozil (80), Deulofeu (84)
First Half: Mirallas fires a shot very wide of goal. Giroud has an effort blocked by Howard. Ramsay has an effort saved by Howard.
Half Time: 0-0.
Second Half: Cazorla has a header saved. Pienaar has a long range driven shot saved. Ramsay has a volley parried past the post. Barkley has a driven shot from the edge of the box punched away. Flaimini drags a low shot wide of the far post. Mirallas fires a strike just wide of the post. Goal! 1-0, Ozil puts Arsenal in front after firing into the roof of the net from Walcott's headed pass. Goal! 1-1, Everton strike straight back as Deulofeu fires a strike into the far corner. Lukaku fires an effort over the bar. Giroud unleashes a long range wonder volley that crashes back off the bar.
Full Time: 1-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Barkley. Everton hold Arsenal at the Emirates. Arsenal deserved a point but to win would have been cruel on Everton. It seemed as though Ozil had scored a late winner only for Everton to reply in quick succession. Giroud nearly produced a goal of the season strike at the death but amazingly the ball bounced back off the bar. Everton were very impressive and deserved at least a point. They controlled much of the match and outplayed Arsenal at times. Very promising signs for the Evertonian fans.

Fulham 2 v 0 Aston Villa Sidwell (21), Berbatov (30pen)
First Half: Berbatov has a header parried onto the post. Benteke heads wide of the post. Benteke has a low shot parried away. Kacaniklic has an effort cleared off the line. Goal! 1-0 Fulham take the lead after Sidwell chips the ball over the keeper from an acute close range angle. Penalty! Bacuna fouls Kacaniklic inside the box. Goal! 2-0, Berbatov calmly rolls the ball into the bottom corner. Delph fires a strike wide across goal. Berbatov has a shot saved.
Half Time: 2-0.
Second Half: Karagounis fires just over the bar from long range. Reither hits the post with a header. Benteke has a shot tipped over the bar.
Full Time: 2-0.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Berbatov. Fulham grab a vital victory over Villa. Fulham put in a much stronger performance and were good value for their win. Villa were very lacklustre and didn't get themselves into the game. A very disappointing game for Villa who want to forget that one quickly.

Best Goal: Deulofeu

Super Sunday Game Week 13

Tottenham Hotspur 2 v 2 Manchester United Walker (18), Rooney (32, 57pen), Sandro (54)
First Half: Lennon has a low shot from the edge of the box saved. Goal! 1-0, Walker puts Spurs in front by blasting a low free kick under the wall and past De Gea. Soldado blasts an effort high and wide. Lennon has a close range shot saved. Goal! 1-1, Rooney equalises for United after capitalising on a mistake from Walker to strike into the near top corner. Jones drags a low shot wide from long range.
Half Time: 1-1.
Second Half: Goal! 2-1, Sandro puts Spurs back in front with a long range screamer that arrows into the far top corner from long range. Penalty! Lloris rushes out and brings down Welbeck. Goal! 2-2, Rooney equalises for United again after scoring straight down the middle from the spot.
Full Time: 2-2.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Rooney. Tottenham have been criticized lately but they put in a much better performance today. Spurs were largely dominant in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Walker. A poor mistake from Walker cost them the lead but Sandro scored a magical goal to put them back in front. However, they failed to hold onto the lead again. A much needed point from a big game for Spurs. I was disappointed by United's slow start. Thankfully, Rooney was in fine form and dug United out of a hole twice to salvage a point from what turned out to be a tough match.

Hull City 3 v 1 Liverpool Livermore (20), Gerrard (27), Myler (72), Skrtel OG (87)
First Half: Davies heads wide of the far post. Goal! 1-0, Livermore puts Hull in front after his long range strike deflects past Mignolet. Goal! 1-1, Gerrard levels for Liverpool with a curling free kick that finds the far corner.
Half Time: 1-1.
Second Half: Moses has a close range effort well saved. Goal! 2-1, Myler puts Hull back in front with a low close range shot that finds the far bottom corner. Suarez hits a long range free kick just wide of the post. Sagbo has a tame effort saved. Goal! 3-1, Huddlestone's shot deflects off Skrtel and into the back of the net. El Mohammady drags a low shot wide across goal.
Full Time: 3-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Livermore. What a great win for Hull. Didn't see that coming and didn't expect Hull to win the second half. A great performance which will give their confidence a huge boost. Liverpool put in a poor display. Lacklustre, unexpected and deserved for Liverpool. A real off day meant they head home with nothing. At half time I thought that Liverpool would grind out a 2-1 win but they were outplayed by Hull during the second half and got what they deserved.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Nasri. Man City put in another strong performance at home. The result was inevitable but never the less it was still impressive from City. Swansea were in the game during the first half but failed to take their chances, most notably with De Guzman.

Chelsea 3 v 1 Southampton Rodriguez (1), Cahill (55), Terry (62), Ba (90)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Rodriguez puts the Saints ahead in the first minute after latching onto Essien's back pass and slotting home. Oscar has a header saved. Torres is denied scoring a header by a great save.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Lampard has a free kick tipped over the bar. Goal! 1-1, Cahill equalises by heading in from close range Ramires' rebounded effort off the post. Goal! 2-1, Terry puts Chelsea in front by heading into the top corner from Mata's cross. Ba drags a shot wide across goal. Osvaldo chips an effort over the bar. Goal! 3-1, Ba stretches and converts low into the near bottom corner.
Full Time: 3-1.

My Opinion:
My man of the match was Ramires. Chelsea were thrown off their game in the first half after a poor mistake from Essien cost them a goal. However, Chelsea came out very strongly in the second half and turned the game around. Ramires played a pivotal role in the comeback but it was an important result for the home side. Southampton got off to the perfect start and played really well during the first half. Unfortunately, the second half saw the Saints blown off the park by Chelsea. Encouraging signs for Saints but they will need to improve.

Best Goal: Sandro, Gerrard, Negredo. Winner: Sandro
