Goal! 0-2, Suarez scores after making the most of some poor defending to slot a low shot under the keeper. Goal! 1-2, Crouch scores after heading in a cross into the near bottom corner. Coutinho has a volley well parried away from the centre of goal. Goal! 2-2, Adam levels for Stoke with a long range screamer into the far side.
Half Time: 2-2.
Second Half: Penalty! Sterling is fouled in the box by Wilson. Goal! 2-3, Gerrard scores from the spot into the bottom corner. Goal! 2-4, Suarez curls a low shot into the far bottom corner. Walters has a close range header well parried away. Goal! 3-4, Walters scores with a low shot under the keeper. Goal! 3-5, Sturridge scores by slotting home into the near side on the rebound from his first effort hitting the near post. Mignolet parries away a Gerrard misdirected header.
Full Time: 3-5.
My Opinion:
My man of the match was Suarez. 8 goal thriller at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke battled really well throughout and will be disappointed not to have to come away from the game with anything. They impressed me by getting back to level terms before half time at 2-2 and even when they clawed their way back to 3-4 but it just wasn't to be. Liverpool kept going really well and got their rewards in the end. The game could have gone either way in the second half but they managed to put themselves in front when they needed to.
Newcastle United 0 v 2 Manchester City Dzeko (8), Negredo (90)
First Half: Goal! 0-1, Dzeko puts City in front after firing in from close range into the near top corner from Kolarov's cross. Kolarov drags a low shot wide across goal from long range. Cabaye has a volley parried over the bar. Tiote has a wonder goal ruled out for offside. Silva sends a low long range volley wide of the far post.
Half Time: 0-1.
Second Half: Negredo has a close range header parried away. Cabaye has a long range strike parried behind. Cabaye has a free kick parried away. Tiote fires just wide from long range. Remy has an effort blocked by Hart. Fernandinho hits the bar with a header. Negredo has a low effort cleared off the line. Goal! 0-2, Negredo scores after being played through on goal but has his first effort parried before the ball bounces off him and taps in from close range.
Full Time: 0-2.
My Opinion:
My man of the match was Negredo. City tough it out at Newcastle. I had to feel for Newcastle as they were wrongly denied an equaliser to make it 1-1. Tiote scored an absolute worldy of a goal but for some reason the linesman put his flag up for someone was not involved in play. Very harsh on the Toon who could have taken something from the game had that not gone against them. City took an early lead but had luck on their side today. The goal against them was ruled out for offside and they managed to keep a clean sheet. Negredo scored late in the game as City managed to grind out the three points.
Best Goal: Adam, Suarez, Dzeko. Winner: Adam
