ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Semi-Final: England v South Africa (The Oval)

England power past South Africa into the Final

England 179-3 (37.3) beat South Africa 175 all out (38.4) by seven wickets.

South Africa crumbled again in a major Semi-Final as a batting collapse left them at 80-8 with the England bowlers in full flow. Miller (56*) and Kleinveldt (43) put on a 10th wicket partnership of 95 runs to at least restore some pride but it was just simply not enough. Jonathan Trott was in imperious form, hitting an unbeaten 82* off 84 balls whilst Joe Root scored 48 runs to help guide England comfortably to victory and a place in the Final.

My Opinion: A brilliant performance by England but an even worse effort by South Africa. Anderson, Broad and Tredwell all bowled tremendously whilst the majority of the Proteas batsmen didn't turn up at all. A lot of credit must go to Trott for keeping a cool head and scoring runs at a quick rate which kept South Africa on the back foot throughout the match. If England can match this performance in the Final then they will have a great chance of going one step further than before.
