ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Day 7: Australia v New Zealand (Edgbaston)

Points shared after match abandoned due to continuous rain

Australia 243-8 (50 overs) drew with New Zealand 51-2 (15 overs).

Despite Australia posting a score after 50 overs, they were denied a chance to win as the rain kept falling during the New Zealand innings. The result favours New Zealand as they are now two points clear of Australia. It is good news for England as a win against Sri Lanka will see them qualify to the next stage. Australia started poorly with the bat, losing two early wickets before Adam Voges (71) shined to help guide the Aussies to 243-8 after 50 overs. It would have been an intriguing conclusion to the match if the rain had kept away as McKay took two wickets, to leave the Kiwis on 51-2 after 15 overs. Frustratingly, the rain came and stayed for the remainder of the day which meant a result was not possible.
