French Open: Day 12 - Women's Semi-Finals

Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams both into the French Open Final

Maria Sharapova beat Victoria Azarenka in a close three set encounter in the first Women's semi-final. Sharapova raced to a first set lead after only conceding one game. Azarenka then hit back to tie the match at one set apiece before the rain delayed proceedings. After the rain break, it was Sharapova who showed more determination to win as she gained a double break before serving out the match.
Sharapova will meet an imperious Serena Williams in the Final. S. Williams proved their was a vast difference between her and the rest of the field as she powered to a straight sets victory within fifty minutes whilst only conceding one game to Sara Errani. Williams will be a heavy favourite after that performance to lift the title but can Sharapova cause an upset to regain her French Open crown.
