2013 Race 14 - Korean Grand Prix (Korea International Circuit): Qualifying

Vettel on pole for Korean Grand Prix

Sebastien Vettel beat Lewis Hamilton to pole position for the Korean Grand Prix. However, Alonso could only manage to qualify sixth which will mean that the Spaniard must have a better race to keep the championship in sight. Webber will start alongside Grosjean on the second row whilst Rosberg and Alonso are on the third row. Massa and Hulkenberg will start on the fourth row whilst Gutierrez and Raikkonen round up the top 10.

My Opinion:

Red Bull: A solid qualifying session for Red Bull. Vettel unsurprisingly starts on pole and will look to storm away in his usual style and claim victory. Webber will be looking to pass Hamilton and give Red Bull a one two.

Mercedes: A decent effort from Mercedes. Hamilton shone and narrowly missed out on pole but will be looking to pass Vettel. Rosberg starts 5th and will aim for a podium spot.
Ferrari: A standard qualifying session from Ferrari who have struggled all season. Alonso will need to produce some more race magic to move up the pack whilst Massa will look to gain a spot or two.
Lotus: Mixed emotions for Lotus. Grosjean performed brilliantly and will look for a podium spot whilst Raikkonen will be hoping to pick up as many points as he can from 10th.
Sauber: Great effort from Sauber. This was a big qualifying session for Suaber as both drivers made the top 10. Hulkenberg and Gutierrez will be hoping to pick up some points from here.
Mclaren: Disappointment for Mclaren. Not what Mclaren were hoping for with both drivers just missing out on the top ten. Both drivers will be looking to pick up a few points.
Toro Rosso: Average effort from Toro Rosso. Ricciardo couldn't produce a top ten drive today but will be hoping to pick up a point or two whilst Vergne will struggle for a point.
Force India: Force India struggle. Not what Force India were aiming for. Sutil and Di Resta were both off the pace and will need to produce a strong race to pick up a point.
Williams: Tough times for Williams. Both Williams were knocked out in the first qualifying session. Williams have struggled all season and will need to improve after this effort.
Caterham: Caterham beat Marussia. Pic narrowly beat teammate Van Der Garde to 19th.
Marussia: Marussia at the back. Bianchi beat Chilton in the last two positions.

Qualifying Result and Starting Grid:

1. Vettel (Red Bull) 1.37.202

2. Hamilton (Mercedes)
3. Webber (Red Bull)
4. Grosjean (Lotus)
5. Rosberg (Mercedes)
6. Alonso (Ferrari)
7. Massa (Ferrari)
8. Hulkenberg (Sauber)
9. Gutierrez (Sauber)
10. Raikkonen (Lotus)

Performance of the Day: Hamilton for splitting the two Red Bulls.

Shock of the Day: Both Force India's failed to make the top 10.

Disappointment of the Day: Both Mclaren's failed to make the top 10.
