2013 Race 16 - Indian Grand Prix (Noida): Qualifying

Vettel takes pole for Indian GP

Sebastien Vettel will go into the Indian Grand Prix in pole position as the German looks to win his fourth world title tomorrow. Both Mercedes of Rosberg and Hamilton split the two Red Bulls as Webber takes fourth place. Alonso has to win the race and hope that Vettel doesn't take any points to keep the title race alive but it just seems so unlikely.

My Opinion:

Red Bull: Vettel looks set to win his fourth world title after putting himself on pole whilst Webber will be hoping to pass the Mercedes in front of him to get on the podium.
Ferrari: Massa outshone Alonso to qualify fifth but that was a really poor showing from the Spaniard.
Mercedes: Seemingly best result for the team to finish behind Vettel. Rosberg just beat Hamilton but both will be looking to remain in the top three by the end.
Lotus: Mixed day for Lotus. Raikkonen did his job to qualify in sixth but what was Grosjean and his team doing after not making it past the first session.
Sauber: Mixed day for Sauber. Hulkenberg drove well to take seventh but Gutierrez struggled and took last place in the second session.
Mclaren: Decent stuff from Mclaren. The team have been used to the position at the back end of the top 10 and today is no different but Perez sits one ahead of Button.
Toro Rosso: Ricciardo narrowly missed out on a top 10 place but Vergne was never in with a shout.
Force India: Both the Force India's were close to the top 10 but missed out. Di Resta managed to put himself ahead of Sutil.
Williams: Bottas managed to make it into the second session but Maldonado was knocked out after the first.
Caterham: Van Der Garde and Pic both beat Chilton but lost out to Bianchi.
Marussia: Bianchi wins the battle of the lower end grid cars. Chilton will start in last place.

Qualifying Result and Starting Grid:

1. Vettel (Red Bull) 1.24.119
2. Rosberg (Mercedes)
3. Hamilton (Mercedes)
4. Webber (Red Bull)
5. Massa (Ferrari)
6. Raikkonen (Lotus)
7. Hulkenberg (Sauber)
8. Alonso (Ferrari)
9. Perez (Mclaren)
10. Button (Mclaren)

Performance of the Day: Seb Vettel for yet another top class qualifying session.

Shock of the Day: Grosjean was knocked out after the first session.

Disappointment of the Day: Alonso has pretty much gifted the title to Vettel now with that poor effort in qualifying.
