Super Sunday Game Week 8

Soldado on target as Spurs win

Aston Villa 0 v 2 Tottenham Townsend (31), Soldado (69)

Spurs double sinks Aston Villa. Agbonlahor had an early chance for Villa put blazed over from the centre of the box. Sandro had a long range strike saved before Weimann hit a long range volley very wide. However, it was Townsend who put Spurs ahead just after the half hour mark after nobody touched or stopped his curling cross into the far corner. Weimann blazed over from long range again before Sigurdsson headed wide. Delph blazed over from long range for Villa whilst Bacuna smashed a free kick high and wide. Weimann curled a shot just wide of the near post before Townsend had a low shot from the edge of the box well saved as half time approached. Tottenham controlled most of the second half whilst Townsend shot very wide at the start of the second half. Paulinho had a shot turned round the post before Benteke headed over from Bacuna'c cross. Soldado then doubled the lead for Spurs after coolly finishing inside the near post. Townsend had a late left foot shot but it curled just over the bar.

My Opinion:

My man of the match was Townsend who was a constant threat. Very inconsistent performance from Villa who lacked any creative flair in the final third. Spurs played really well and were deserved winners as they produced two moments of real quality to take the three points.

Best Goal: Soldado
