Sunderland 1 v 3 Liverpool Sturridge (28), Suarez (36,88), Giaccherini (52)
Suarez double sinks Sunderland. Liverpool started the game strongly as Gerrard fired wide before Skrtl had a goal ruled out for offside. Sunderland came close to taking the lead but Larsson's free kick crashed back off the crossbar. It was Liverpool who went ahead just before the half an hour mark as Sturridge converted from a corner. Suarez then doubled the lead for Liverpool after tapping in from a Sturridge cross. Gardner had his effort well saved and Johnson curled over just before half time. Sunderland pulled a goal back early in the second half as Giaccherini slotted home a Mignolet parry. Gardner then had a shot turned round the post before Moses had a decent shot saved. Suarez fired wide before scoring his second goal of the game by converting a Sturridge cross late on in the game.
My Opinion:
My man of the match was Suarez who looked a constant threat. Sunderland played better today but were just undone by a brilliant strike partnership. Liverpool will be pleased with their two strikers who were heavily involved in all of their goals.
Stoke 0 v 1 Norwich Howson (34)
Howson goal enough to grab vital away win. Norwich started brightly as Snodgrass hit the crossbar direct from his corner kick. Arnautovic blazed over for Stoke before Howson scored with a long range strike to put Norwich ahead before half time. The second half started with more Norwich pressure as Pilkington drove a shot wide whilst Snodgrass curled over the bar. Jones could only produce a tame effort before Nzonzi had a long range strike saved. Snodgrass had a late curling effort saved as Norwich held on for victory.
My Opinion:
My man of the match was Snodgrass for a decent performance. Stoke played really poorly and will need to vastly improve. Norwich deserved to win as they proved to be the better team today.
Best Goal: Luis Suarez second goal.
