Super Sunday Game Week 7

West Ham pull off shock result at Tottenham

Tottenham 0 v 3 West Ham Reid (66), Vaz Te (72), Morrison (79)

Hammers shock Spurs with incredible second half performance. Chances were few and far between in the first half as Tottenham struggled to have a creative influence in front of goal. Walker tried his luck with a long range strike but it went wide of the post. Paulinho put an effort wide before Nolan volleyed wide just before half time. Defoe was lively at the start of the second half but had a shot saved before another was tipped over the bar. Morrison blazed wide for West Ham before Reid stunned Tottenham to put the away side ahead. Reid's header was blocked but it was the Hammer's player who slotted home the rebound. Vaz Te then doubled the Hammer's lead six minutes later after converting from his rebounded shot. Morrison capped off a fine victory for West Ham with an inspired individual goal after running through the Spurs defence from the halfway line before delightfully chipping over Lloris.

My Opinion:

My man of the match was Morrison who really had a game to remember. The first half was pretty even but Spurs struggled throughout the whole match. West Ham shocked a lot of people, including myself, with that second half performance and Tottenham can have no complaints.

West Brom 1 v 1 Arsenal Yacob (42), Wilshere (63)

Arsenal held by stubborn West Brom performance. Berahino had the first shot at goal but it was deflected into the path of the goalie. Gibbs blazed over from close range before Wilshere fired a shot wide. Ramsay had a low driven shot saved before West Brom took the lead just before half time. as Yacob headed in at the near post from Amalfitano's cross. Wilshere fired over soon after the break before Anelka curled a shot just wide of the far post. However, Wilshere managed to level the score for Arsenal just after the hour mark with a long range low driven shot that took a slight deflection. Both teams went in search of a winner but Jones had a driven shot saved whilst Giroud had an effort saved.

My Opinion:

My man of the match was Berahino for an impressive performance. West Brom deserved a point but could have taken more as they were the team more likely to score a second. Arsenal will be glad to have taken a point after a really tough match against a fighting West Brom.

Norwich 1 v 3 Chelsea Oscar (7), Pilkington (68), Hazard (85), Willian (86)

Chelsea snatch victory with two late goals. It was the perfect start for Chelsea who took the lead in the first three minutes as Oscar slotted into the far corner. Ba had a shot turned round the post before Howson had an effort well blocked by Cech as half time approached. Ba nearly doubled Chelsea's lead straight after the break but his shot just missed the far post. However, Norwich equalised after Pilkington nodded in at the far corner. Chelsea pushed for a late winner but Ivanovic had a low driven shot saved at the near post whilst Fer had a shot saved at the other end. In dramatic style, Chelsea scored twice in two minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Hazard put Chelsea back in front after finishing a fast break with a low shot under Ruddy before Willian produced a superb strike from the edge of the box to find the far top corner.

My Opinion:

My man of the match was Ba who really impressed up front for Chelsea. Norwich grew into the game the further it went on but were just undone by two late goals. Chelsea looked comfortable up until the equaliser but have Hazard and Willian to thank for getting them out of a hole.

Southampton 2 v 0 Swansea Lallana (19), Rodriguez (83)

Saints continue to march on. Southampton got off to the better start whilst Osvaldo had an early chance but could only blaze over from close range. However, Lallana put the Saints ahead after driving his shot from close range into the far top corner. Swansea managed to find their feet and produced a few chances of their own as Michu had a header saved before Shelvey had a shot saved. Lambert had a long range free kick saved whilst Dyer hit the post before Bony had a header saved just before half time. Swansea were on the attack after the break but failed to produce an equaliser as Dyer sliced a shot wide before Bony headed over the bar. Shelvey hit a free kick over whilst Wanyama had a goal ruled out as the referee spotted a foul. Southampton doubled their lead in the last ten minutes as Rodriguez scored with a low shot into the bottom corner to seal victory.

My Opinion:

My man of the match was Boruc who produced some decent saves to keep Saints in the lead. Southampton continue their fine run of form with a decent win over Swansea. However, they have their goalie to thank as Swansea put plenty of pressure on the Saints goal but they just could not get past Boruc.

Best Goal: Contenders: Wilshere, Morrison, Willian. Winner: Morrison

Shock of the Day: West Ham seemingly thrashing Spurs away.
