Ashes Series: England v Australia - Fifth Test (Day 4) at The Oval

Rain washes out fourth day of final Test

Australia 492-9 declared lead England 247-4 by 245 runs (England lead series 3-0)

The rain poured down all day much to the frustration of the players, fans and umpires. The forecast was a sorry sight at the Oval where play never looked likely to take place. With England still in their first innings it looks certain that the match will finish in a draw tomorrow. England look set to win the series 3-0 and retain the Ashes whilst remaining unbeaten in the series.

My Opinion:

What a shame the rain would not stop. Persistent all day long with the players looking on from the pavillion whilst some die hard fans watched from the stands. With this day being a washout it looks very certain that the match will end in a draw. I expect England just to bat out the day whilst leaving any wide ball. It would be a shame to end such a good series on a poor note but England look set to remain unbeaten throughout the series and can take pride in a 3-0 series victory.

It's a washout: There was not a ball bowled at The Oval on Saturday

Disappointment of the day: The fact that there was no play at all today.
