England v Australia ODI 1 (Headingley)

First One Day International abandoned due to rain

The first of five one day Internationals between England and Australia was abandoned due to persistent rain at Headingley. Australia will be looking for revenge after their 3-0 Ashes Series defeat to England in the one day format of the game. The Twenty20 matches were a sign of improvement for Australia as they bagged their first win in the opening game. However, England drew the series level with a victory in the second match.

My Opinion:

There was never going to be a chance of any play at Headingley today as the rain just kept pouring down. Therefore, the one day internationals will not start until the second match in Manchester. I expect a closer series compared to the Ashes Test matches as Australia have plenty of power hitting in their batting lineup. Hopefully England can continue their fine form and dish out another blow to Australia during the next four matches.

Match Guide: Key Moments:

10.30: Rain postpones start of play.
13.30: Match abandoned due to rain.
